UPDATED 1/30/2024:
The quarterly Area Assembly will be held at the Clarion Inn and Convention Center in Auburn from March 22-24.
This will be the last time the Assembly will be held at the Clarion. The organization has been looking for a new home for a long time and will have to find one before July. The Clarion will probably not exist after March, we’re told. If you know of a place and want to submit an idea, contact Josh S. He’s on the committee.
Here’s the latest note we received from the Area 1 Chairperson.
Area 1 Members:
I have some important information to share with you about the upcoming Area 1 Assembly.
The General Manager of the Clarion Hotel has confirmed that the hotel will be open in March, and we are scheduled to have the Assembly there from March 22nd to March 24th, 2024.
I had some conflicting information from the GM over the past week about the hotel’s availability, so I scheduled a meeting with the Area Officers and the Ad-Hoc Venue Committee Chair to discuss viable options. During the meeting, we determined that due to the short notice, our only in-person option at this time is the Clarion.
However, the committee will continue to review other venue options and present them at the next Assembly for the July and possibly the October Assemblies. Additionally, they will have three viable options for the 2025/2026 term ready and out to the Assembly in May. We ask that you take those options back to your home groups and be ready to vote in July for the best option for Area 1 as a whole.
I understand that this is an uncertain time, but I want to assure you that the Area Officers truly care about AA in Area 1 and as a whole, and we want to make this a great assembly! I am staying in close contact with the general manager, and Stephanie from the Auburn Lodge is keeping an eye on things at the Clarion.
To recap, we will meet at the Clarion on March 22nd-24th, but new venue options are being investigated for the July and October Assemblies.
Rooms are still available at the Clarion, and if you had a registration, it is still there. The Auburn Lodge has 15 rooms that are also available.
