Celebrate the 90th AA Founders’ Day with District 2 at Sportsman Lake Park!

This year marks an extraordinary milestone for Alcoholics Anonymous: the 90th anniversary of its founding! On June 10, 1935, in Akron, Ohio, Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith came together, planting the seeds of hope and healing that have grown into the global fellowship we know today. Founders’ Day is a powerful reminder of the transformative journey shared by millions who have found freedom through AA.

Join us in celebrating this incredible occasion at District 2’s AA Founders’ Day picnic, set against the beautiful backdrop of Sportsman Lake Park in Cullman, AL, on Saturday, June 14th. It promises to be an uplifting day filled with fellowship, inspiration, and fun!

Inspiring Speakers & Fellowship:

Kick off the celebration at 11:00 AM with Al-Anon speaker Andrew W. from Huntsville, who will share a heartfelt message of hope and resilience. At 1:30 PM, we’re honored to welcome Cushing P., an Area 1 past delegate, as our AA speaker. Cushing’s experience, strength, and wisdom promise to energize our spirits and strengthen our commitment to the journey of sobriety.

Delicious Food & Fun:

What’s a picnic without great food? At noon, we’ll enjoy a tasty picnic lunch together. Hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, and condiments will all be provided. Bring along your favorite side dish or dessert to share—this is your chance to showcase your famous potato salad or mouth-watering brownies!

Spend the day connecting with old friends, making new ones, and soaking up the joy and gratitude that this special day brings. Whether you’re new to the fellowship or a long-time member, this event is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the incredible legacy of AA and our shared journey toward recovery and hope.

The park is family friendly with lots of opportunities for kids to play, ride trains, and fish, or just hang out.

Why Founders’ Day Matters:

Every year, Founders’ Day reminds us of our humble beginnings and the courageous spirit of our founders. This 90th anniversary is particularly meaningful, emphasizing the strength and endurance of our community. It’s a moment to pause and reflect, to appreciate the profound impact AA has had—and continues to have—in each of our lives.

District 2 invites you warmly to this joyful celebration. Come share laughter, stories, and fellowship with us at Sportsman Lake Park. Mark your calendars, gather your friends, and prepare for an unforgettable day!
